Sketchbook work

Here are a few of my recent sketchbook drawings.

Firstly this amazing pebble that I snapped with the camera while dog walking on the beach.  The detailed patterning is really interesting and provides a whole range of shapes that could be used to create designs for stitching.

While enjoying sitting outside at a coffee shop a large (5cm long body) beetle buzzed by and landed briefly next to us.  I managed to snap a quick shot before it flew away.  The  beetle had lovely markings on the wing carapaces and the colours varied from a limey green through to yellowy orange.

At another coffee shop (yes, I do enjoy my coffee’s out!) there were high tables and stools.  The legs made interesting lines crossing over each other and I thought they might be a good subject for a later printing exercise.
